PML-N resolves to contest elections in Punjab and KP

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Saturday resolved to contest elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

It was decided in a session chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. PML-N’s bigwigs Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and other senior leaders attended the session.

The session also underscored that elections would be held on time. Sources said that Mr Nawaz directed the party leadership to start preparations for the elections and inform the masses of political and economic failures of the PTI’s tenure. He said, “We could not pin good hopes on PTI chief Imran Khan”.

On the other hand, Mr Nawaz also advised the PML-N senior vice president Maryam Nawaz to return to the country this month.

NA s structure suggests that there are 180 members of the ruling coalition with seven of the MQM. The MQM has been at daggers drawn with the PDM led federal government over the issue of delimitation of constituencies in Karachi. The MQM, earlier, summoned a party meeting to consider the option of pulling out of alliance with the federal government. If the MQM pulls out, it could lead to the removal of Mr Shehbaz as the PM.
